One of our commitments is to provide and support second-life solutions to post-consumption plastics. Therefore, based on the promising findings of the CSIR -BRRI study, GRIPE in partnership with that same institution took a step further.A 6-seater toilet facility was built using plastic modified concrete and blocks developed by the CSIR-BRRI. The construction involved the use of more than two (2) tons of plastics constituting 3% mortar in concrete blocks and 80% in pavement blocks. Following the research results, plastic fractions used were PET and HDPE. The breakdown of the materials used is indicated here. The facility was inaugurated at Domeabra M/A Junior High School, a primary school in Ejisu Juaben district of Ashanti region providing new latrines for the students.
