In February 2020 we launched another collection project through one of our members – Accra Brewery Ltd – in partnership with Environmet360 and Miniplast Ltd. Women waste pickers from Old Fadama have been employed to collect empty plastic bottles. This empowers these women and helps them improve their livelihood from the income received. The bottles collected are weighed and valued in order to pay the waste pickers. This payment is channeled through mobile money services which highlights the importance of financial inclusion in Ghana’s growing economy. The empty bottles are then transported . for recycling. Some of the recycled plastic is used to make chairs, tables, and bowls which are locally sold in Ghana and the remaining recycled plastic is exported
